Hane Age “nami no ugoki kankaku” Renshu.The practice is to develop a good flowing feeling of waves rising and falling. This is an exercise to develop a consistent sliding action of the staff while negotiating all directions with good footwork.Don’t think about creating power in the movement but rather the feeling of control and unity of yourself with the staff.

Bojutsu requires one to be able change the body in all directions while still maintaining control of the staff. Due to environmental factors,loosing ones balance from pressure of a strike, or simply using the skills as a means to evade, the goal is to recover as quickly as possible on balance and in kamae.Good luck with your training.
